Mentha (Mint)

There are sixteen varieties of the Mentha mint plant. All of the varieties share the trait of taking on a particular taste and several varieties share various flavor nodes that exhibit sweet and savory traits.

The crinkled, dark green, toothed leaves of this variety make up a dense, upright plant with pale lavender flowers in July.

A sterile hybrid derived from a cross between Mentha aquatica and Mentha spicata, this variety produces spikes of lilac-pink flowers in midsummer over a fragrant collection of foliage. Divide this very vigorous plant often.

'Chocolate' features small, rounded to lance-shaped, glossy dark green leaves tinged with burgundy and terminal spikes of small lavender flowers in July. The leaves have both a chocolate-mint fragrance and taste.
