Physalis (Chinese Lanterns)
Physalis are grown for the decorative value of their brilliantly colored, swollen calyces. They resemble miniature "Chinese Lanterns", thereby providing its common name.

| White flowers in June will form large, scarlet-orange pods in fall that are often used dried as decorations. This plant will also spread readily from underground runners.
