CommunityThe Herbie Project"Herbie", New England's largest American Elm tree and a Yarmouth landmark, is succumbing to Dutch Elm Disease. The town of Yarmouth has established The Herbie Project to preserve Herbie's legacy and replace him and many other trees that have fallen victim to the disease. Learn more about the project and how you can join Estabrook's in the fund raising effort to establish a Tree Trust for the Town of Yarmouth. Yarmouth Community GardenEstabrook's has been actively involved in the establishment of the Yarmouth Community Garden, located on upper East Main Street on the Parks Property just before and across from the Recycling Center. Created by a group of Yarmouth citizens, the Community Garden's aim is to support needy individuals and families by raising vegetables for donation. In addition to these charitable goals, the garden also serves as a space for Yarmouth residents to grow a garden, providing an opportunity for children, disabled individuals and other citizens to work together for the benefit of the community. Individuals or organizations should apply for their garden space by contacting Yarmouth Community Services at 846-2406. This is a great opportunity for school and civic groups, neighborhoods and others who want to garden and/or do something for the community. For more information on the Yarmouth Community Garden, you can visit their web site at www.yarmouthcommunitygarden.org. |
