Save Energy with LED Lights
If you're thinking about stringing the lights this weekend, don't forget to look into LED's. Thanks to their distinct look and long lasting bulbs,
LED lights have quickly become a favorite choice
for Christmas decorators.LED stands for light-emitting diode which is a special type of semiconductor diode used to conduct light. Since they don't require the color filters used in traditional lights to change the look of the light, LED lights are more efficient and keeps energy costs down. Cost Efficiency The greatest benefit of using LED lights in your Christmas decorations is cost efficiency. The lights are built inside solid cases which protect them and make them incredibly durable. The lights themselves are also long lasting - on average they will work for about ten years, which is twenty times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs. Plus, instead of burning out the way traditional bulbs do, LED lights will simply start to fade. Since a single bulb fading out doesn't affect the rest of the string, you'll avoid the hassles of repairing and your replacement costs will be significantly lower. A Safer Option LED lights are also safer than traditional Christmas bulbs. Since they emit less heat, they pose less of a fire risk when put on trees or combined with other decorations, while also reducing the risk of burns for children and pets. The durability of the lights is another safety factor. Unlike traditional glass bulbs that are quite dangerous if stepped on, the sturdy plastic cases of LED lights won't break easily and won't cause a risk of serious injury if they do happen to break. Environmentally Friendly Finally, using LED lights is an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional Christmas lights. While decorative lights are always a drain on energy, LED lights will use only ten percent of the power required for traditional lights and the bulbs utilize all of the light produced. We offer a wide selection of LED lights at Estabrook's - stop by and start lighting up your holidays in a whole new way! |
