Sod is a living plant. Plan to install it the day it arrives and have your watering setup ready to go.
Sketch your lawn with its length, width and unusual features. Loosen the soil, remove rocks and debris, and rake the surface smooth before installation.
Start along a straight edge and stagger the seams like brickwork. Fit pieces snugly without gaps or overlaps, then roll for good soil contact.
Begin watering within 30 minutes of installation. Keep sod moist until firmly rooted, adjusting for weather, and avoid heavy use for the first three weeks.
